Confidence-building Tips for Working Moms in the Workplace.

We all know that moms are called superhumans, but sometimes, even superhumans find themselves in a place where they need a boost of confidence, especially in the workplace. So I put together a few tips to help boost your confidence. 

 

  •  Remind yourself of your worth as a professional every day. Often, as moms, we can so easily fall into that trap of believing that we will not reach success like our peers. You are as capable as everyone there. 
  • Let go of the guilt. Remember, you are not a bad mother because you are a working one. Realize that you are setting a fantastic example for your children that they might emulate as adults.
  •  Use your “mom” tools to your advantage. Organizing, multi-tasking, and thinking creatively? These skills work in the office too!
  •  Silence your inner critic; Invest in giving yourself positive self-talk, and acknowledge your strengths and skills.
  •  Be realistic with your expectations. If you are a new mom, you are still getting into the tempo of working and raising a child, so take it easy on yourself: know what you can achieve, and don’t get dismayed.
  •  Trust your instincts – at work and home. When you have confidence in your actions, you will feel more self-assured and at ease in your decisions.
  • Know when to say “no.” We often go into “overachiever” mode, especially at work, and feel stressed about saying no to specific tasks. However, if you have a valid reason for declining, don’t be afraid to use it!
  •  Dress up, show up, and make life happen! There is power in wearing a confidence-boosting outfit to work, so go out and feel like the power player that you are. 
  •  Remember that you are worth respect, love, and praise – not just as an employee but as a mother. Affirm that you achieve so much daily and that your resilience is worth celebrating!
